[one week]

subject:
Introducing the newest member of the Winn family and my favorite photography subject... my son, Joshua Taylor.

lighting:
These shots were taken at one week of life in using natural morning light indoors.

equipment:
With my trusty Nikon D80, I tried using my 18-135mm lens fir the distant shots and my 50mm lens fir all close-ups.

challenges:
When working with this newborn was the feeding delays in between shots (seriously it went like this... feed. position for shot. take 3-5 quick ones. scoop up crying infant. repeat.) This was only really challenging because I feared the lighting would drastictly change and I'd miss the morning glow.

lesson learned:
The sun hangs around for a while so don't freak out with delays cause it will effect the quality and composition of your photographs.

as always please give me that feedback...

[new york city]

Still playing a bit of catch up... these are from my day trip up to NYC in December.
All of NY seemed tired that day in the wake of Christmas and gearing up for New Years on this cold rainy day, but I didn't mind the overcast weather for the photos.
This spring I'm determined to pull out my camera and practice some more. I'm really hoping to grow at my portrait shots of people so I'm looking for any willing subjects out there.
Please give me any and all feedback on this batch...

[the schantz family]

This Jim's mom asked me if I'd take some pictures of her and her hubby for their Christmas cards. I jumped at the chance to photograph not only two of my favorite people, but their newest little addition - Lucy, their black lab pup :). While I took so many more most of the shots were similar so I decided to only post a few of my top top favorites.
Lucy was so black that I found it quite challenge to get the right white balance set on my camera for both her and her owners... But I think they turned out :)

Are they so beatiful together?
"Happy Holidays" :)
SO photogenic! Can't wait for this pretty girl to have puppies someday...
